Get Your Vehicle Ready for Summer Vacation

pre-vacation-vehicle-inspectionWill you be traveling to your summer vacation destination? No doubt there’s a lot of planning involved. Don’t forget about your vehicle! Making certain your vehicle is ready is one of the more important aspects of trip preparation. By bringing your vehicle in for service at least one week before you plan to leave for your summer vacation, you’ll be able to make sure you won’t have any unexpected surprises, like a vehicle breakdown.

If you recently brought your vehicle in to Geller’s Automotive for its regular maintenance, there are a few things you can do before you go on your summer vacation to make sure it is road-ready:

  1. Check the levels and conditions of all the vital fluids – engine oil, transmission fluid, radiator fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid. Don’t forget to also check and top off your windshield wiper fluid.
  2. Check the air pressure and inspect the tire tread and condition of your tires. If you notice any cracking, bulging or low tread depth, have your tires replaced. Not sure what to buy, we carry all the major brands of tires and can help you select the best tires for your vehicle and budget.
  3. If they haven’t been changed, replace your wiper blades.
  4. Is your air conditioner blowing warm air? Bring it in for servicing. (Click here to read our article on auto air conditioning.)
  5. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for emergencies. An Emergency Road Kit should include jumper cables, flares, a first-aid kit, flashlight, extra fuses and anything else you would find helpful in the event of a vehicle breakdown.

Buckle up and have fun on your summer vacation!
